Domaine Tissot

2023 Arbois AOC 'DD' Rouge

The ‘DD’ is Stéphane’s tribute to his father, Andre (‘DD’), a throwback to the pre-Stéphane days when the red wines of Jura were not often single varietal affairs but blends of their three autochthonous reds. The ‘DD’ is a delicious blend of Poulsard, Trousseau, and Pinot Noir in equal parts. Extremely long and gentle maceration gives the wine this tender yet robust structure of broad tannins. It’s such a wonderful and surprising texture for such a light wine. The fruit is lively and joyous, showing bright cherry and raspberry and crunchy plum over an ozone-like, ferrous minerality.

What the Critics are saying:  "For Stéphane Tissot, 2023 was a very good year for reds. The wines are fruity and clean, delicate and crisp in a style he compared with 2016, even if the growing season was considerably warmer. The 2023 DD, a blend of terroirs, the equivalent in red to his white Patchwork, also blends the three red grapes: Trousseau, Pinot Noir and Poulsard. It is perfumed and attractive, with a distinct note of bitter almonds that makes it very attractive and made me go back to the glass over and over again to smell the wine. It is easy and pleasant, fine-boned, elegant, fresh and lovely, with contained ripeness and 13% alcohol, and it's very pleasant to drink. 33,000 bottles produced." 93+/100.
