Vineyard & Vine Age: The grapes for this wine come from organic estate vineyards in Ardoix, Chavanay, and Saint-Pierre-de-Boeuf. The 33-year-old vines, planted at 5,000–8,000 per hectare on steep terraces, grow in decomposed granite, gneiss, and schist soils.

Cellar: François Villard Saint-Joseph AOC Mairlant Rouge is fermented 100% whole cluster with indigenous yeast, macerated 14 days in open wood vats and stainless. The wine is then aged for 18 months in oak barrels, developing depth, structure, and complexity.
